California coalition of parent-led grassroots group, Families in Resistance works against oppression and marginalization in the child welfare system. This coalition came together to create real and lasting change in the child welfare system and to assist children who lose everything based on allegations and biases.
Colorado criminal justice system does not have a proportionality review to compare sentences that may be unjust to other jurisdictions with similar facts. No legal procedure exists in Colorado to measure how to disproportionately families for color are being impacted.
Oregon and California have taken advantage of legislation passed in Congress on COVID relief that has made aid available for young people in foster care to assist in the transition into living as an independent, self-sufficient adult. Foster youth who age out and who do not have the support of family are in dire need of additional support and assistance during the pandemic.
