Florida Senate Committee on Children, Families and Elder Affairs has approved Senate Bill 1526 to help ensure young adults aged out of foster care to be provided Medicaid coverage until age 26. The Department of Children and Families along with community-based care lead agencies will develop a product to conduct outreach to connect with those eligible.
Nebraska organization, The Hub provides support to youth who have aged out of the foster care system by connecting them with resources they need. They provide individualized care packages. The Hub saw 50% increase in the people they have helped during the pandemic.
New Mexico House of Representatives passed new legislation expanding and codifying protections for Native American children in the state's child welfare system. House Bill 209 creates the State Indian Child Welfare Act, the New Mexico version of the federal Indian Child Welfare Act. This bill is significant in its inclusion of Native voices to address a uniquely Native issue.
