Kansas lawmakers are discussing House Bill 2187, which will create an Office of Child Advocate if passed. This office will be independent of the Department of Children and Families and would investigate complaints about the agency and encourage policy changes. Currently there are 13 states who have implemented an independent Office of the Child Advocate, and they can work together to track high-risk solutions.
