Arizona bill SB 1018 is pushing the Department of Child Safety to support families who adopt out of foster care when their children have complex trauma and behavioral health issues that need long term care. If the bill passes, DCS will have until December to provide these families with better options.
Idaho Representative Ron Nate of Rexburg has introduced a bill to allow for more 'free range parenting'. Officially named the "Reasonable Childhood Independence" bill, it provides parents who are comfortable letting their kids engage in independence building activities without being accused of being neglectful.
Missouri House committee on Children and Families votes to authorize adoption tax reduction and to expand tax credit. House Bill 429 and 430 aims to make adopting or fostering children easier. Representative Hannah Kelly (R-Mountain Grove) sponsored both bills. These bills are due to go before another committee then heard by the full House next week.
