New Jersey legislators are reviewing a bill, S2886/A4620 that would ease the parents ability to make alternative care arrangements for their children. This bill creates a power of attorney that will allow parents and qualified caregivers to designate alternative caregivers if they become unable to make important decisions about their child's life.

The National Center for Housing and Child Welfare and the members of ACTION Ohio have partnered to help solve the foster youth homelessness crisis. The Foster Youth Independence Initiative allows public housing authorities to request Tenant Protection Vouchers for the young adults who have left foster care. To date, the FYI initiative has provided more than $6.8 million through 844 vouchers in 31 states.
