Kansas Strong for Children and Families organization is launching a collaborative pilot project, Parent/Youth Facilitation for families in Wyandotte and Saline Counties. The program focuses on 14-17 year old youth who are at risk of removal into foster care. A facilitation process is setup to assist families to arrive at appropriate decisions that best fit their needs and the program also connects families to community services and supports.
The National Center for Housing and Child Welfare and the members of ACTION Ohio have partnered to help solve the foster youth homelessness crisis. The Foster Youth Independence Initiative allows public housing authorities to request Tenant Protection Vouchers for the young adults who have left foster care. To date, the FYI initiative has provided more than $6.8 million through 844 vouchers in 31 states.
