Indianahouse committee has approved legislation to track children in foster care and their success in school. This bill would assist in providing better services to these children and require the Indiana Department of Education to submit an annual report.
Michigan nonprofit Fostering Success Michigan has been offering youth who have experienced foster care assistance with academics, housing and jobs. This program was setup to assist foster youth in finding success after a system has failed them.
Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts is requesting $35 million in additional funding for the state's Children and Family Services to compensate for the additional children coming into the system.
