Ivy-Marie WashingtonTitle: Project SpecialistE-mail: Profile: Ivy-Marie Washington is a passionate child advocate with over 10 years of experience in child advocacy. She specializes in trauma informed care, adverse childhood trauma (ACE), and child welfare policy. Ivy-Marie joins the team as a Project Specialist for the Adopt US Kids team. Previously, she’s held positions various child welfare agencies, universities and for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services contributing to informing policies, increased adoption rates and increased public knowledge of trauma informed care and most recently managed partner projects that involve incorporating the voices of young adults with lived experiences in the child welfare system. These projects give our lived experts the opportunity to take a seat at tables with state and local members who have a hand in everyday child welfare process. Ivy-Marie holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M International University, and is a currently working towards her Master in Education in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling specializing in trauma. As a former foster youth herself, Ivy is passionate about increasing the public knowledge of various aspects of the child welfare system. In her free time, Ivy-Marie enjoys spending time with 2-year son or picking up a book during her downtime. Additionally, she is a founding member of a non-profit that strives to change the negative stigma that comes with growing up in the foster care system. |
