Massachusetts State Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier has prioritized ensuring the Foster parent's bill of rights
(FPBoR) is now law as of January 4. Years of collaboration between
foster parent advocates, house and senate sponsors has resulted in a
range of protection of foster parents.
Montana Supreme Court has ruled that the Indian Child Welfare Act applies to third party custody arrangements in which a Native American parent allows the courts to place their child in the care of a family member.
Nevada Legislature is set to consider several bills in the upcoming 2023 session. Assemblywoman Shea Backus has drafted a bill to protect the Indian Child Welfare Act in Nevada if it gets overturned federally.
