Colorado is considering awarding more than $3 million contracts to non-profits that strengthen families. The City Council will discuss the arrangements at the Public Safety, Housing, Education, and Homelessness Committee meeting. The money will pay for case management, employment skills, payments to parents and guardians, and educational skills.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and legislators offer former foster youth $3.8 million in higher education grants. The Fostering Independence Grant covers college tuition, fees, books, and housing for students under age 27 who were in the foster care system at any time after age 13. US: FosterClub, the national network for young people in foster care, has announced its Outstanding Young Leader Award winners for 2022. This year FosterClub had thirty-two recipients. The award recognizes young people who have experienced foster care for their service to communities and their efforts to improve the foster care system; each recipient will receive a scholarship award.
