California Los Angeles County racial justice advocates, lawyers, reproductive rights groups and community-based organizations are calling on elected officials to implement wide-ranging reforms to the local foster care system. The Reimagine Child Safety Coalition formed in May 2020, aims to "break down the family regulation policies in Los Angeles that target and harm Black and Indigenous families."
Oklahoma Intensive Safety Services program (ISS) is designed to keep children who are at risk of removal due to abuse and/or neglect in their homes by providing in-home support to parents/caregivers from a master's-level therapist to address the needs that led to the abuse or neglect. DHS and therapists continually monitor the children's safety in the home and parents must complete the services in order to keep the children from entering foster care.
US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), AdoptUSKids and the Ad Council launched a new series of PSA's to encourage prospective parents to adopt teens from foster care. The new PSA's theme is "You Can't Imagine the Reward" and are based on real experiences of teens in foster care.
