Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and the Mexican consulate renewed their memorandum of understanding (MOU) that represents the strong spirit of cooperation to better serve Mexican children in the custody of DFCS and US children whose parents are Mexican citizens. Specific areas of cooperation include helping connect children with family in either country, attaining government documentation and ensuring the safe return of Mexican citizens when appropriate.

Montana House Bill 90 would require a new hearing to get all parties on board earlier when a child is removed. These new types of hearings are being piloted in Yellowstone and Flathead counties where they are used to connect parents to mental health and substance use services, to locate kinship placements and to schedule parenting visits.

New York City elected officials and political candidates push for expanding funding for foster care coaches in the Fair Futures program. This popular program matches thousands of vulnerable young people to a paid mentor for help with homework to life coaching. The city has yet to provide permanent funding for the program.
