US - Virus relief plan includes alleviating child poverty. Historically, past economic research has shown that financial relief for children will produce returns for the government and benefits for decades to come. President Biden states that spending would ultimately lead to economic gain, yet critics state it would undo work requirements and damage the welfare state.
Washington senator T'Wina Nobles, a former foster youth has passed a bill to help the most vulnerable children get through school. Senate Bill 5184 requires all K-12 public schools to offer on-campus assistance for students in foster care by designating an existing employee as a point of contact for foster youth.
Florida LeRoy Collins Institute has submitted numerous reports regarding how state governments should aim to operate more efficiently. The report suggests taking an inventory of all programs and use evidence to indicate whether successful programs are being funded. Moving funding towards those programs as well as monitoring and providing technical assistance, while evaluating what other successful programs are available.
