The American Bar Association is advocating to end unreasonable restraints, seclusion and searches of children. Three resolutions related to the well-being and rights of children and youth are being considered. Resolution 115 emphasizes that child welfare, immigration, juvenile systems as well as other legal systems cannot be reformed without the active participation of individuals who have experienced those systems.
Nebraska Foster Care Review Office Quarterly Report indicates that 96.6% of DHHS/CFS wards are children who are placed in nonrestrictive, family like settings. This is supported by research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill stating children experiencing more positive placement and well-being have improved outcomes compared to children in restrictive care.
State of Washington, Office of the Family and Children's Ombuds has submitted the 2020 Annual Report. The report provides an account of the office from September 1, 2019 to August 21, 2020. The Office of Family and Children's Ombuds provides an independent voice for families and children and strives to address concerns of parents, youth relatives, foster parents, and professionals among others.
