Alaska Gov. Bill Walker signed House Bill 151, first introduced by Rep. Les Gara who is a former foster youth. This bill will help improve Alaska's foster care system and is supported by Facing Foster Care in Alaska, a nonprofit run by current and former foster youth.
LouisianaSenate Bill 129 extends the age of foster care from 18 to 21. The Senate Finance Committee approved it unanimously as the "best bill of the session".
North CarolinaDepartment of Health and Human Services is requiring all counties to sign a memorandum of understanding or face losing state and federal funding or be taken over by the state. The County Consolidated Human Services Board is protesting this stating the new state requirements are impossible to meet.
